7th & 8th Grade Confirmation Prep Program

The Confirmation Preparation Program for Grades 7 & 8 will meet monthly on the First Monday of the Month, from 6:30-8:30 PM in Founders’ Hall, beginning in October. A complete schedule for the year will be provided at the first session.

One-Eight is a confirmation preparation program designed for students in 7th & 8th grade, a very impressionable time in their lives, to help them understand the importance of their faith how they can rely on it in their daily life and struggles. Many young people are already dealing with terrible temptations, stuck in family feuds, not believing in God, cutting themselves, escaping thru substances…they have friends dealing with big problems, being immersed in the way in which the world wants them to live and they are forced to make adult decisions. They know that it’s the wrong way to live but they don’t know what to do.

Our program reaches these teens where they are and helps them develop a deep relationship with Christ and draws them to the Eucharist in a real and intense way during their journal and silent prayer time in front of the Tabernacle, which occurs every session for a solid 30 minutes. It is our hope that this program makes them think for themselves and begin to realize that what the Church teaches is the real truth. They have great small groups led by our Catechists in which they feel they can have a voice in the church and see the great Christian Community around them.

These students, during their preparation have the chance to attend three retreats as well, 2 Confirmation Retreats, one a county wide retreat and one smaller more intimate retreat with just our Confirmation Candidates. Their third retreat is the Silver Ring Thing Chastity Event.

It is our hope that by giving these students two solid years of Confirmation Preparation and Confirming them as 9th graders, they may continue the study of their faith into high school and stay involved in our parish Youth Group. We are truly blessed with great support and cooperation from our students’ families and truly have a working miracle here at Saint Monica Parish
